“ Located at the beautiful Halekulani, House Without a Key is a great spot to go to to grab some bite to eat, enjoy the views, as well as watch a very classy, wonderful Hawaiian dance (by a previous Miss Hawaii!). Make sure you have reservations, and the staff are pretty open to letting you request a specific table; try to sit towards the front in the center, so you don't have any obstructions. We ordered: +a Mai Tai - one of the hotel's signature cocktails; prepared with Bacardi Gold Rum, Bacardi Select, orange curacao, orgeat syrup, fresh lime juice, and a lemon hart 151 float; this was strong and aesthetically pleasing +The Gable - prepared with fresh cucumber juice, pineapple cordial, fresh lemon, aloe juices, and mango ice; refreshing and healthy-tasting +and a slice of the Halekulani Coconut Cake - with anglaise and raspberry coulis The breeze felt amazing, and service was top notch; we were checked in often throughout the evening. You'll be guaranteed to have a lovely time! +Hawaiian dancing and music +friendly service +reservations recommended +located at the Halekulani ”
“ I went here for my parents' 30th anniversary since my mother retired in May 2024. They were married at the same hotel 30 years ago. Their food is good. I ate the beef tartar and the veal. The service is great and it's an outdoors dining experience that overlooks the ocean. It's really beautiful. ”
“ I'm saddened that it wasn't the 5 star experience I was expecting! I had been many years ago (10years) and at that time it seemed more elegant & a fine dining experience. That's why when we renewed our vows on the beach I thought it would be the Perfect Location for our Romantic night to continue. I had reservations and we were seated promptly- but, I was surprised that we weren't closer to the performance of live music and a lovely hula lady- I thought it odd that folks just having drinks were positioned closer. What really kinda sucked the romance from the evening was our inattentive server Kellen. He was obviously not into what he was doing, enhancing our evening or even really serving our table. I'm a firm believer that your staff can make or break a customer's impression of an establishment. This was surely one of these occasions.... Our views were lovely, entertainment was nice too. But, it just seemed like a pool casual dining experience not like I remembered at all. We enjoyed the Mocktails, the Cesar was pleasing in flavor but wasn't really prepared. See photo. We didn't even bother taking a picture of the pizza because it was just That Ordinary Pizza- margarita that was under done. But, to add insult to the marginal evening- Kellen had been so sleepwalking through the evening he charged us for another guests meal- so then, we had to watch our account and make sure it was refunded. So, we were very unimpressed with the service most of all. I understand why folks are drawn to the business for the entertainment- but, just get drink! You will get better seats and won't be disappointed in the lackluster meal. Hopefully, the service will better for you! Good Luck! My husband says I'm being too generous with 4 stars. But, I feel the evening could have been 5 star with good service. He feels like I should have only given 3. ”
“ Swanky bar and restaurant that is part of one of the best hotels, Halekulani. But its lovely to go for cocktails and appetizers and enjoy the live Hawaiian music and Hula dancing to watch the sunset. Gotta get there early as they wont take a reservation if your not a hotel guest. ”
“ House without a key is a tradition. I can't leave Waikiki without having lunch here. My go to is the Joy crab sandwich which is crisp, flavorful with loads of crab that brings me joy. The staff are great and attentive just watch out for the birds they will eat your lunch if you don't pay attention ”
